NEVER fear for the future of music in Weymouth’s pubs and clubs – there’s a new generation of talented youngsters on the way.

Three groups from the Modern Drum Academy showed off their instrumental and vocal skills in a gig for family and friends at the New Vic on the Esplanade.

There was seldom a missed beat and what the youngsters, aged eight to thirteen, might have lacked in professional polish they more than made up for in sheer enthusiasm.

A range of classic rock and pop was offered up, all of it well done with bass and lead guitar support from tutors from the Weymouth based music school.

Noticeable, but perhaps expected given its name, was the sheer number of drummers necessitating a lot of speedy changes between numbers, but none of them missed a beat.

The school, which gave its last concert at Christmas in a local hall of Lanehouse Rocks Road in Weymouth, is now planning ahead to a summer gig.

Three groups took part in Sunday’s event – The Will, Limited Edition and Junior Beats.
