GET ready for the first bank holiday weekend of May with plenty of entertainment in our area.

*LIVE music will be performed at the Quayside Festival at Weymouth Harbour tomorrow (5) and Sunday (6) from 12pm to 10pm.

There will be a large stage overlooking the harbour, a big screen, outdoor bars, food stalls, nearly 20 different bands and free entry.

*HEAD back to the sixties at Weymouth Pavilion tonight (4) at 7.30pm.

Bringing on Back the Sixties features former Manfred Mann frontman Mike d'Abo, 60s revivalists New Amen Corner and Nancy Ann Lee 'Little Miss Sixties'.

In 1966 Mike d’Abo was the only one man who could fill Paul Jones' shoes as front man for Manfred Mann. Already attracting attention with his group, A Band Of Angels, Mike was thrust into a wider limelight with the Manfreds and the well-oiled hit machine kept rolling on. Just Like A Woman, Semi-Detached Suburban Mr James and Mighty Quinn were just three of the string of hits with the 'new boy' in the line-up.

Contact Weymouth Pavilion for tickets.

*THERE'S a rare opportunity to look around Smedmore House at Kimmeridge on Sunday between 2pm and 5pm.

The house will be open to raise money for Margaret Green Animal Rescue. House tours will be given by historian, Dr. Philip Mansel and family. There will be refreshments and activities. Entry costs £5 for adults and children under 16 go free.

*DIRE Straits fans will be in clover at Weymouth Pavilion tomorrow (5) when Money for Nothing rocks into town for a 7.30pm show.

The tribute act will be performing Money for Nothing, Romeo and Juliet, Sultans of Swing, Private Investigations, Walk of Life, Brothers in Arms, So Far Away and many more much-loved classics drawn from six platinum albums. Featuring all of their legendary hits, audiences are treated to those soaring guitar solos and instantly recognisable riffs.

*HEAD out west for Lyme Regis Fossil Festival, which is held tomorrow and Sunday.

This science festival features fossil walks, musical performances and exhibitions. See fossilfestival.co.uk for more information.

*THEATRE performed entirely on and under a kitchen table comes to Dorchester Corn Exchange on Sunday, May 6 for two performances at 11.30am and 2.30pm.

Lyngo Theatre will present Tom Thumb.

One night tiny Tom overhears Mum and Dad talking – there’s nothing left to eat so they are going to leave him and his six brothers in the forest!

Outwitting his parents and the ogre Tom shows everybody that even though he is small he is still mighty as he protects his brothers, finds the treasure and makes sure they’ll never be hungry again. The show is full of Lyngo magic with feathery spinning birds, a flying house and a portable forest. It is performed by Patrick Lynch of Cbeebies, who has been performing it for more than a decade.

The play is suitable for those aged three and above. Contact Dorchester Arts for tickets.

*HAVE a good laugh to round off your weekend with Sunday Night Comedy at Weymouth Pavilion on Sunday at 7.30pm.

Have I Got News for You star Hal Cruttenden is headlining. Expect a set packed full of hilarious rants on the evils of the modern world: the 5:2 diet, oversharing on social media (and much more besides) from the acclaimed Radio 4 favourite. Contact the box office for tickets.

*SOAK up the traditions of Blandford Georgian Fayre on Monday in Blandford Forum town centre between 10am and 5pm.

The fair has been going now for more than 25 years, attracts thousands of people to the town and raises money for local charities and deserving causes.
