Organisers of the Bournemouth Emerging Arts Fringe (BEAF) say this year’s event will offer “a greater and more vibrant programme of arts and cultural activities”, thanks to additional funding by the Bournemouth Coastal BID.

Thousands of visitors are expected to attend over 150 events at 55 venues, with over 500 artists around Boscombe and Bournemouth between April 27 and May 7.

The festival provides businesses with a 10-day opportunity to promote their offering to the public and an increased number of visitors. BEAF 2018 will also give artistic individuals and imaginative businesses a chance to showcase their talent in front of new audiences.

Established in 2013, BEAF is the largest independent arts festival in Bournemouth attracting thousands of people every year. Highlighting local businesses and venues, people can enjoy a plethora of artistic acts, workshops, talks, pop-up temporary exhibits and cabarets. These will take place in theatres, exhibition spaces and unexpected locations across Bournemouth with a preference on Boscombe.

A new feature will be the Boscombe BEAF Bank Holiday Street Festival on May 7. The street festival aims to get visitors to engage in cultural activities that will generate a new sense of pride in Boscombe’s rich history.

The Boscombe BEAF Street Festival will also celebrate Boscombe’s growing creative and artistic business community, highlighting award winning studios and agencies to discover as part of this festival.

Carol Maund, BEAF representatives, said: “We would like to thank Bournemouth Coastal BID for supporting this year’s independent arts festival. BEAF 2018 will be bigger and more diverse than ever, thanks to the funding supplied the Coastal BID and the support of the levy-paying businesses.”

Stefan Krause, Bournemouth Coastal BID Manager, added: “Boscombe’s business community is pleased to support via the Coastal BID this year’s BEAF. The festival provides a great opportunity for all types of businesses to get involved and benefit from showcasing what especially Boscombe’s creative business community can achieve in collaboration.

"The Coastal BID encourages local businesses to get creative with their BEAF activities to attract more visitors and potential new customers. The event will provide a wonderful visitor experience for families, whilst also supporting local businesses.’’
