SOME of Bach's most fascinating instrumental music will be brought to a stage in Dorchester by two rising stars of the European early music scene.

Italian-based American violinist Elicia Silverstein and British harpsichordist and conductor Christopher Bucknall team up to present a recital of some of Bach’s most varied and nuanced music on Sunday, April 29 at 3pm.

The works on the programme, which range from intimate and conversational to dramatic and toccata-like, from dance music to intense counterpoint, were all composed during Bach’s time in Weimar and Cöthen, prior to his famed stay in Leipzig.

Violinist Elicia Silverstein is rapidly garnering praise for her nuanced, bold and insightful performances of repertoire ranging from the 17th to the 21st century. A performer on both historical and modern instruments, Silverstein is equally at home as a soloist with orchestra, giving recitals and playing chamber music. Her inventive and thoughtful approach to concert programming, as well as the sincerity and exuberance she brings to musical communication, distinguishes Silverstein as one of the most important voices of her generation.

Conductor and harpsichordist, Christopher Bucknall, is a rising star both on the concert platform and in the opera house, sharing his passion for bringing music from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries alive.

Christopher frequents many of Europe's top concert halls and festivals as harpsichordist and continuo player appearing with groups including the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, The Kings Consort, Brecon Baroque and Academy of Ancient Music.
