AN EVENING of story and song from the far north is coming to rural Dorset.

Farnham Maltings will perform Brave Folk in Buckland Newton on Friday, March 23, the finale of the Artsreach spring performance programme

Welcome to the marshlands; a place where you can tell a person by the sound of their squelch. Yorgjin Oxo is a carefree young man and an unlikely hero who has been taught the sounds of storms and how to sing into the rain, until one day the next village disappears and everything changes.

Performed by a company of five actors, Brave Folk tells of a place unlike our own, of soggy nights, brave mice, larger than life characters, and the joys of being alive.

The show is written by Thomas Crowe and directed by Gavin Stride, who says: “We want this to feel less like a play and more like an event. Like you have spent the evening in the company of friends”.

Kerry Bartlett, Artsreach co-director said “Farnham Maltings have brought a great variety of performances to our rural venues over recent years, and with our season sponsored by local solicitors Blanchards Bailey, we were delighted to add this production to our varied spring programme.”

Following acclaimed tours with The Iranian Feast and Brilliance, Farnham Maltings invite you to join them for a mystical Nordic tale, fizzing with humour and suspense, about love and courage and knowing when to act.
