Step back to the roaring 20s at the Lyric Theatre in Bridport with two special events in the run up to Christmas.

On Friday November 24, Victoria Hole from the vintage dance troupe Flaming Feathers will be leading a fun evening workshop in learning to dance the Charleston.

She guarantees to have you heel flicking and toe tapping in no time!

From 7 to 9pm, this one off class will be stylish and full of humour, with music to match that will definitely get your feet swivelling.

Suitable for all levels, you will learn 1920s Charleston through a variety of classic moves, and all the dancing is solo so there’s no need to bring a partner.

The bar will be open from 6:30pm, so bring your dancing shoes and a few clams to spend on liquor.

Traditional dress is welcomed but not compulsory, just make sure those dancing shoes are comfortable!

It’s proving popular so book your place in advance at admin@the-lyric.com or call 01308 423951.Tickets cost £12 per person.

On Saturday December 16, the surrounds of The Lyric Theatre will set the scene of the 1920s prohibition era, in a decadent night of vintage opulence for The Lyric Prohibition Party.

This will be a great big knees up wrapping up 2017 in style.

The Roaring Twenties was a period of social, artistic and cultural dynamism.

The Jazz Age blossomed, the flapper redefined the modern look for women, and the rise of the Speakeasy flourished across the nation.

To evoke the spirit of the era, The Gatsby Gang will deliver the best of 1920s jazz, guaranteed to get the chandeliers swinging!

Sassy vocalist Rachael Roberts is backed by an all star cast featuring the legendary

Tony Roberts (Saxophone/Clarinet), Richard Llewllyn (guitar), James Budden

(double bass) and Marc Juan (percussion).

DJ Professor Purblind (from the Gaslight Troubadours) continues the music, spinning some electro-swing to keep the dance floor jumping - and... is that a gramophone he's playing?!

Flaming Feathers dancer Victoria Hole will be on hand to inspire our inner flapper and dapper, as she demonstrates dances of the era and performs with the band.

From the moment guests arrive on the red carpet, photographer Simon Emmett will be snapping reportage-style the stylish party goers who've dressed to impress.

There will be a prize for the best dressed!

'Fancy' dress is encouraged but not essential.

Perfomer Toby Gascoigne will compere the evening

There will be a bar on the night including cocktails, fizz and liquor. So round up a group and come celebrate the festive season in fabulous style!
