HAIR, worn long, worn short, worn wavy or in braids, is the subject of The Head Wrap Diaries, a brand new, funny and uplifting dance theatre performance by London based Uchenna Dance.

This play is heading to Dorset for one night only this November through Artsreach, the county's touring arts charity.

The Head Wrap Diaries is an immersive-interactive dance theatre production that uses comedy to explore women, beauty, hair and culture. Three fierce, clever and witty female characters take us through stories of community, heritage, womanhood and friendship, celebrating versatility in Afro-hair, diversity amongst black women and empowering all women to embrace their individual beauty.

Following sell-out tours by James Wilton Dance and Mi Flamenco, Artsreach continues it’s exciting programme of live dance theatre this autumn, as part of the National Rural Touring Dance Initiative, a project delivering the very best touring dance to small spaces such as village halls.

Using their signatory blend of styles fused with African and Contemporary dance, Uchenna invites you to take a front row seat to watch, interact with and be immersed in a journey that takes you from childhood to the present day.

Mixing dance, theatre and storytelling with a good dose of humour, enter the Be-u-tiful hair salon and join stylists Linda and Riyah on a hair journey that will have you laughing out loud and thinking about your hair, while you learn a thing or two about afro-hair, straight from the hairdressers chair! Suitable for ages 5+.
