GET into the season with an Autumn Spirit concert to be given by the Casterbridge Male Voice Choir in the United Church, Dorchester, on Wednesday October 18.

It will feature a wide variety of music, old and new, including spirituals, songs from the shows and traditional male voice choir pieces.

The choir of around 40 singers raises money for charities, both in Dorset and further afield.

Choir member Andy Davies said: "It was formed 75 years ago and continues to flourish with an increasing number of singers, who find that being part of a male voice choir is an uplifting, beneficial and unique experience that can be enjoyed by anyone who has a desire to make music.

"In our 75th year we celebrated with a hugely successful shared concert with “L’Echo de Trun” a mixed Choir from Normandie in Dorchester in May. We will be making a return visit to them in France in 2018, in a spirit of “Entente Cordiale”, to sing in a series of concerts. We are looking forward to a busy programme over the next few months and throughout 2018 as the choir goes from strength to strength.

The choir meets for practice every Wednesday evening at 7.25 pm at St Mary’s Church Hall, Edward Road, Dorchester. See casterbridgemvc.co.uk for more information.
