There's lots to see and do this weekend whether you're sporty-minded, arty or green fingered.

*SEEK out arts and crafts in Chaldon Herring Village Hall near Dorchester tomorrow (16) and Sunday.

This exhibition and sale will feature the work of local artists, print-makers, wood-turners, wool knitters and others. The show will be open from 11 am to 5pm and there will be refreshments and cream teas. All profits will go to the village hall and St Nicholas Church.

*CELEBRITY gardeners Charlie Dimmock and Christine Walkden will be at a new harvest festival at Forde Abbey near Chard in Somerset this weekend.

The festival will be packed with celebrity garden talks, harvest workshops and family entertainment on September 16 and 17.

Hosted by West Country TV gardener and BBC Radio Devon presenter Toby Buckland, Toby’s Garden and Harvest Festival is bringing together a range of growers, chefs and bakers, willow-weavers, food producers and flower farmers, as well as more than 150 exhibitors selling plants, garden tools and sculpture, art, crafts and artisan food and drink.

Go to tobygardenfest.co.uk for more information.

*CHEER on the ironmen and women as they cross the finish line at Weymouth seafront on Sunday but be aware of the local road closures.

This year sees a shorted 70.3 mile route and roads will reopen earlier in phases. See dorsetforyou.gov.uk/travel-dorset/ironman for a full list of the road closures.

*GET into the season at an Autumn Charity Garden Fair at Mapperton House near Beaminster on Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

There will be 30 specialist nurseries and garden related stands giving a wide choice of herbaceous plants, shrubs and gifts from the region.

Entry is £3, supporting the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust, and it's extra for the house and gardens.

*THERE'S a rare chance to look round Smedmore House at Kimmeridge, Wareham on Sunday.

This beautiful house is in a stunning setting, nestled in the Purbeck hills.

There will be cream teas and cakes, classic cars, stalls, house tours and music. Money will be raised for a new Kimmeridge childrens' playground.

The garden is open from 12pm and the house is open from 2pm. Entry is £5.

*TIGER Day VIII takes place at the Tank Museum, Bovington, tomorrow.

This is your last chance in 2017 to see Tiger 131 make an appearance in the arena.

All the action takes place between 9am and 6pm.

*ENJOY tea, scones and harmony in Blandford Forum on Sunday between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.

Taking place at the Corn Exchange, this is an opportunity to make new friends over a cream tea while listening to sound of local choirs, the Halsey Community Choir and the Stalbridge Singers and a new instrumental quartet, the Ridgeway Quartet.

This informal concert will also raise funds for Alzheimer's Research UK. It costs £10 for adults and £8 for concessions.
