MEN who enjoy singing are invited to have a go at making music with the Casterbridge Male Voice Choir.

The choir is holding an invitation evening on Wednesday September 13 at St Mary's Church Hall, Edward Road, Dorchester at 7.15pm.

Joe Mercer of the choir said: "There are no auditions and the choir are a friendly bunch. It will be an informal evening and men can see if they enjoy it and can either join in or just listen.

"The choir is made up of very keen amateur singers. We're now celebrating our 75th anniversary and have made many many thousands of pounds over they years for charity. We have several concerts a year throughout Dorset and further afield."

Jo said the choir urgently needs more tenors.

They have a return invitation to visit Normandy next year from the French choir, Choral L'echo De Trun, which performed at the United Church in Dorchester in May.

The Casterbridge Male Voice Choir will be performing a concert in Sherborne on Wednesday September 27. Full details are on the website. See cmvc.btck.co.uk/ for more information.
