RADIO 1 listeners in Dorset may recognise the voice of Jazz Morley which will be hitting the national airwaves this week.

For the Bournemouth-based singer songwriter’s latest single, Safe Place, has made the radio station’s new playlist.

The soulful song has already received international acclaim and is described as, “a showcase for her raw talent and love of down-tempo electronic pop”.

Jazz, a former Bournemouth School for Girls student, said: “This is a love song written about where I live and who I have in my life. It marks a shift in my own mental health, happiness and creativity.

“Being a full-time musician, life can be exciting, spontaneous and hugely rewarding but also chaotic, unpredictable and at times, unstable.

“For the first time in my life, I am happy with who I am, and where I reside - next to the sea, along the beautiful Dorset coastline.”

Following the song’s premiere on BBC Introducing Solent, the track received its debut national play by the inimitable Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2.

Since it’s official release the song has since gone on to be featured by Notion and FAULT Magazine as well as key blogs and taste-makers from around the world. This will be Jazz’s fourth consecutive single to hit the Top 10 of The Hype Machine, as well as pick up international New Music Friday support from Spotify, seeing her accumulative streams continue into the millions. Safe Place was featured as Record Of The Day who summed up by saying: “We find it remarkable that she remains unsigned, especially with a track this genuinely glorious in her repertoire.”

The imagery used to promote her new single and on the cover by a local drone photographer, reflects the sentiment of Safe Place, showcasing the stunning Bournemouth promenade that lies on Jazz’s doorstep. (Instagram / @arranwithford)
