TUNE up your air guitars and get ready to rock as there’s just one week to go until the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s spectacular weekend of outdoor concerts at Meyrick Park.

The Daily Echo-backed three-day extravaganza, which runs from Friday, August 11 to Sunday, August 13, features music of legendary film composer John Williams, all the hits of Queen and another Family Fun Day of concerts and community events.

Following the highly anticipated return of the BSO Proms last year after a five-year absence, this year’s Proms in the Park programme looks set to one of the highlights of the summer.

The weekend gets underway with the John Williams at the Oscars concert, celebrating the music of the most successful film-score composer.

Audiences are invited to get in the mood by dressing up as one of the characters from the many movies that Williams has composed scores for.

If glam rock is more your style, tune up your air guitar and join the BSO together with full rock band and stars from the West End smash hit musical ‘We Will Rock You’ for the brilliant Queen Rock and Symphonic Spectacular on Saturday, August 12, ten years years after making its debut at Meyrick.

Big hair and flamboyant Freddie Mercury-inspired outfits are encouraged in this celebration of the iconic music of one of the most popular British rock bands, as Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and conductor Pete Harrison bring hit songs including Killer Queen, Don’t Stop Me Now, I Want It All and of course Bohemian Rhapsody to full symphonic life.
