A CHILDREN'S author has dedicated her new book to youngsters at a Weymouth school.

Mary Millard's book, Adventures in Tomato City, is dedicated to St John's Primary School in Weymouth, which has had a special reading drive through this academic year.

The book tells of a young carer, who looks after his grandmother and returns to Crete where his mother was presumed to have been killed in a road accident.

Mary's books address contemporary issues young people face in their lives and are backed by Christian values and faith issues.

Former nurse Mary, of Preston, Weymouth, has also written six biographies for adults, one of which will be the subject of a flower arrangement at the Wareham Flower Festival, taking place at Lady St. Mary Church, Wareham from August 10 to 13.

Mary will be at the flower festival on August 11 from 10am to 3pm signing copies of her books.

She will also be at Weymouth Bay Methodist Church's craft week signing and selling books from August 28 until September 1.
