THERE is still time to take part in creative workshops that will keep youngsters amused during the school summer holidays.

Some ten creative workshops are taking place across Dorset between now and the end of August.

Parents and toddlers can enjoy a fun-filled session of songs, music, arts and crafts with Fiddlesticks at The Exchange in Sturminster Newton on Friday August 11. Get hands on together and through some simple art and craft activities, use clay, paints, sheep’s fleece and other natural resources to create exciting works of art.

For families with newborn babies, Babigloo’s music session at Sixpenny Handley on Sunday August 13 engages parents and babies in a special classical music concert, a really inventive and exciting new workshop offering this season!

Fran Quinlan leads a wacky willow sea creature constructive craft workshop at Sandford Orcas on Friday August 25. Children can bend and bow willow and, using coloured tissue paper, creature their very own creature from the deep blue sea to hang at home.

Dorset Forest Schools share the myths and legends of some of the ancient stones found on the Ridgeway around a fire circle. Children can then create chalk paints and coloured clay to make story staffs and decorate stones in an outdoor adventure at Springhead Gardens near Shaftesbury on Tuesday August 29.

Storyteller Lizzie Bryant tells a Bronze Age tale about a young girl, some old, old bones and a riddling quest in Burton Bradstock on Wednesday August 30. Explore fun ways to inspire and develop ideas for your own stories, then scribe them in hand made books or on story cloths and scrolls to take home.

MaidenCrone bring a session packed with crafts, storytelling and live music to Piddletrenthide on Thursday August 31 in Dragon’s Hope: A Woodland Adventure. Come dressed and fairies and pixies and create headdresses and percussion instruments from willow and clay for this outdoor family show.

It is always worth booking well ahead as workshops have limited places and often sell out.
