Prepare for a spine-tingling entertainment explosion when the celebrated Circus of Horrors returns to Bridport on August 16 in all its live, fast-paced glory.

Not for the faint hearted, this year's spectacular features an amazing amalgamation of bizarre, brave and beautiful acts, all woven into an Alice in Horror-land story.

Sound tracked by a mainly original soundscape and performed with a forked tongue firmly in each cheek.

Born at Glastonbury 1995, the circus was created when frontman, Doctor Haze partnered with Britain’s leading showman, Gerry Cottle to bring the Circus of Horrors to the Big Top.

Haze, who met Cottle at a funeral, recalls: “Gerry’s daughters had a show called the Cottle Sisters’ Circus. So we used their tent and all his family, plus my rock n roll band. By the third day, we were packed to the rafters.”

The Circus of Horrors has shifted shape since then, with tours in theatres up and down the country and around the world. In 2011, they reached the finals of ITV's Britain's Got Talent.

Haze was born in a travelling circus. He grew up eating fire and performing fair acts. When he was 20, he left the big top to form a rock band. But while you can take a man out of the circus, you can’t take the circus out of a man. Before long, he’d added juggling, fire-eating and illusions to his rock show and the seeds of the Circus of Horrors were sown.

The Circus of Horrors, Electric Palace, Bridport, August 16, 7.30pm. The show is 16+ only. Call the box office on 01308 428354 for tickets.
