DIVERSITY of cultures in Dorset will be celebrated once more in the county town.

The Dorset One World Festival takes place on Saturday August 5 in the Borough Gardens, Dorchester from 11am to 5pm.

This year will be the ninth year of the festival and will celebrate the diversity of cultures in Dorset through world music and dance, food, activities, and games.

The festival is aimed at improving understanding of other cultures in Dorset with a programme of both traditional and modern cultural activities performed by the communities in Dorset and further afield.

The Global Food Village will provide a wide selection of fresh food and drinks from, Italy, India, Africa, the Caribbean, Belgium and the famous Purbeck ice-creams.

This year, there will be two stages where performers will showcase their music and dances.

New for this year is a zen zone where more relaxing music will be played and people can have their palms read.

Children will also be well catered for with a bouncy castle, arts and crafts workshop that will culminate in a children's parade and a whole range of sports available.

Co-ordinator Nathalie Sherrine said: “We hope that residents and visitors come and enjoy the festival and experience a fun, friendly and culturally enriching day."
