*To commemorate and celebrate Tolpuddle’s legendary martyrs, who fought against harsh working conditions and inspired a national movement, the annual Martyr’s Festival is returning to the village. Starting this evening and running through until Sunday, the festival will feature a range of speakers to challenge and inspire plus music, poetry, comedy and family entertainment. *Bridport’s family friendly music festival Jurassic Fields is back for its fourth year with some festival favourites and brand-new acts. *Five-time Grammy winners and a cappella heavyweights The Swingles are bringing their masterful vocals to the Corn Exchange, Dorchester this evening. Reinventing songs by the likes of John Martyn, Elbow and Mumford and Sons with subtle beatboxing and skilful harmonies, they will demonstrate how they have continued to delight audiences for more than 50 years. *Charismatic kora player Seckou Keita will be delighting audiences in both Chetnole and Martinstown over the weekend. Pairing his masterful kora skills with evocative, Keita will perform songs fusing traditional Senegalese music with other cultures in songs from his 2015 album, 22 strings. *Students from Let’s Dance school will be performing an anniversary showcase at Weymouth Pavilion today. Featuring 300 pupils of all ages, there will be a wide range of dance styles, solo singers and a musical theatre team to mark the school’s silver anniversary celebration. *Piddlehinton’s annual church fete will be held in the ground of West Lodge tomorrow. Duck racing in the River Piddle, dogs shows, pony rides, tombola and stalls will all be on offer and a BBQ and with bar and live music will be held from 7pm.
