WORK responding to the ebb and flow of the natural world is due to be exhibited in west Dorset.

Earth Pulse will be exhibited at Eype Centre for the Arts in Eype at St. Peter Chapel from July 22 to 30

The work by members of Wessex Contemporary Arts reflects the energy and movement of the natural world we inhabit and which we can so easily take for granted.

The art is a mix of abstract and figurative, 2D and 3D all in its way challenging not only a conventional view of art, but challenging us to look again with fresh eyes at what is around us, appreciate and reflect.

Visitors will be able to purchase a cup of tea or coffee, enjoy the serenity and cool of the place as you look at the exhibition, maybe buy an exhibit, before perhaps edging their way down the narrow twisting road to the beach in the village below.

Among those exhibiting are Jane Burden, in hand-built ceramic bowls and mixed-media pieces, capturing the dynamic of movement within the earth and reveals with texture, colour and sensual folds, its sculptural effect on the landscape.

Helen Simpson’s large scale paintings allow us to feel the underlying energy within the sinuous and sensuous delicacy of leaf and petal.

Terri Hogan’s paintings are about the coast particularly that of the Penwith and the Lizard, they are informed by the power of the ocean as it meets the land and are about capturing a moment in time, on a particular day and in a particular place.

Environmental concerns occupy Marilyn Rose's current work; sculptures created mainly in porcelain exploring ideas of a fragile fragmented world on the edge of chaos.

Jindra Jehu's recent work stems from an interest in what lies in the deepest of Ocean trenches. Where hydrothermic vents, deep sea geysers, spew gases and heat and generate chimneys, some as tall as 18stories. And where the process of Chemosynthesis results in individual, isolated ecosystems.

*There will be a preview of the exhibition from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday July 22 which everyone is welcome to attend. See eypechurcharts.co.uk for more information.

The exhibition will be open from 11am to 4pm daily.
