MUSIC fans are in for a treat when Levellers frontman Mark Chadwick brings his solo show to Weymouth College tomorrow.

The show will feature a mixture of Levellers' classics and Mark's own material, with support provided by Weymouth College music students.

Many of us will remember The Levellers from the 1990s when Just the One reached number 12 in the charts. These days the group, known for its political anthems, is in more demand than ever and have multiple festival dates booked for the summer.

But a return to Weymouth, after doing a lecture at Weymouth College on songwriting in the past, is familiar territory for Mark.

He said: "I particularly know Dorchester very well because I'm married to a Dorchester girl, Lois.

"She works for us in Brighton running our studio. We met and we got married. So we do come back to the area quite a lot."

The band have just finished mixing a new Levellers record.

"It's an acoustic record which was recorded at Abbey Road studios. It has been a lot of fun recording it. It's part of a new album."

Mark has fronted The Levellers for more than 25 years and says they still get on well together after all this time.

"We really do love each other and if someone finds themselves in a bad space the rest of us are there."

With so much current political upheaval, the Levellers are finding they have plenty of political inspiration for songwriting.

"We're frothing at the mouth," Mark said.

"We are very political and this is the most political time the band has ever experienced, but we're finding it exciting and we're making it a positive thing."
