LIES, subterfuge and murder abound when the fast-moving thriller Strictly Murder comes to Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts next week.

Brian Clemens’ disturbing rollercoaster of bluff and double bluff features an all-star cast.

Familiar faces include Gary Turner from Emmerdale, who is already known to Poole audiences following his 2010 panto appearance as Captain Hook in Peter Pan.

Gary is joined by other soap stars including Coronation Street’s Brian Capron and Corrinne Wicks who has also starred in Emmerdale and Doctors.

Set in April 1939, the play introduces an English couple, Peter and Suzy, who are living in Provence in idyllic isolation - far, it seems, from the rumblings of the coming war.

However their peace is shattered from within when Suzy discovers she has been betrayed.

It transpires that Peter is not the man he claims to be.

Suzy’s life is thrown into turmoil as the possibility arises that Peter may in fact be a ruthless killer on the run.

Then a Scotland Yard detective arrives and events become even more complicated and frightening.

A critic for The Stage wrote: “What a play. It’s certainly one of the best murder mysteries I’ve seen and grips you by the throat from start to finish ... the plot is full of twists and turns …”

Strictly Murder is at the Lighthouse, Poole from Tuesday March 14 to Wednesday March 15.
