SPARKLING wit, great stories and a user’s guide to Mary Berry are promised when Sue Perkins takes to the stage at Lighthouse, Poole.

Live in Spectacles first toured to sell-out houses in September, but 15 extra dates were announced in February and March to continue the success of the show, which is based on Perkins’ hilarious Sunday Times No. 1 best-selling memoir, Spectacles.

Best known for being one half of double act Mel and Sue, Perkins won the BBC show Maestro in 2008, culminating in her conducting at The Last Night of the Proms.

She has created the acclaimed travel documentary The Mekong River with Sue Perkins, hosts new shows Insert Name Here and Spelling Bee and is a regular on Have I Got News For You, Just a Minute, QI and The News Quiz… and there’s that cake show on BBC1.

Perkins said: “Having spent the last seven years crammed into a tellybox shouting the word ‘BAKE’, I think it’s high time I got out, and stretched my legs on the UK Stage.

“I loved writing Spectacles and I can’t wait to bring the all singing, all dancing* version to a town near you.”

The show, which takes place in the Lighthouse’s concert hall at 8pm on Friday, February 24, is billed as a ‘rare chance to enjoy an evening with Sue’.

Tickets are priced £23.50, available from lighthousepoole.co.uk or 01202 280000.
