JACK and the Beanstalk, the latest pantomime from Milborne St Andrew players, brought colour, comedy and slapstick to the village.

The traditional panto was full of larger than life characters, in particular Dame Tilly Trot, a beauty to behold, played confidently by Gren E-Davis with his usual flair, Fairy Harricot Vert (Fairy Green Bean) Jon Riddle, dressed in retro lime and suitably French, Grotviler (Adrienne Rogers) the Queen of everything evil – hench-servant to the Giant 'Blunderbore' played by mini giant William Bishop with a big voice!

There were outstanding performances by the comedy duo Leggit and Grabbit ( Rhianna Webb and Roy Sach), and Simple Simon ( Larry Lagrue) Supporting roles played by the remainder of the cast including a smaller number of impressive young cast, with the finishing touch of Jack and Jill (Jo Coetzee and Lauren House) the love interest.

Peter Riddle along with his “behind-kick” Roy Sach brought the pretty cow Buttercup to life.

The production was directed by Jess E-Davis, a very safe pair of hands.

Caroline Nobbs, of the Milborne Players, said: "This was a most enjoyable run for the cast and crew in performance and rehearsal who are all eager to tread the boards with another next year."

The Players are set to stage another play in June. Anyone who is interested in joining the production should contact the chairman Gren on 01258 839056.
