ONCE captains of England’s cricket team and now long-lasting friends, David Gower and Chris Cowdrey are hitting the road together for their first UK tour, Gower, Cowdrey & The Holy Bail.

The two old muckers will tread the boards to discuss everything from meeting on a rugby pitch at school, growing up through the England ranks, being each other’s best men and why they only seemed to end up on the same side when one of them was the captain!

David Gower OBE is one of England’s greatest batsman, playing in 117 Test matches and accumulating 26,339 runs in the process – placing him fourth highest in total runs scored for England.

He still retains the record of 199 consecutive games without registering a duck in Test matches, and was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2009.

David bowed out of cricket in 1993 and has since become one of the most recognisable sports broadcasters on TV. Gower, Cowdrey and The Holy Bail is the first live tour of its kind for David.

The Holy Bail will be at Bournemouth Pavilion on March 5.

Gower told the Echo: “I’m really excited to bring the tour to Bournemouth with Chris, we have lots of friends in the area who I’m excited to see at the show. It should be a great night!”

All-rounder Chris Cowdrey followed in the footsteps of his father, Colin Cowdrey, in captaining England, only the second-ever father and son to skipper the national side.

He made nine appearances for England and represented Kent between 1976 and 1992 and was recognised as one of the most charismatic players of his era.

Since retiring from the game he has appeared regularly on Test Match Special, talkSPORT and Sky Sports and has become one of the UK’s most popular speakers.

Come witness a first-class friendship still going strong after more than forty years. From schoolboy beginnings to Ashes-winning innings, David and Chris have seen it all together. Expect a fun-filled, laugh a minute show packed with anecdotes from the two pals whose lives are arguably rooted in the history of cricket more than anyone else today.
