THE New Year brings a brand new series of concerts for Weymouth Music Club.
The first concert of 2017 is on Sunday (8) at 3pm at Weymouth Bay Church.
It will feature two local musicians: Duncan Honeybourne on piano and Walter Brewster playing the clarinet.
Duncan takes a very active part in music locally, both with the lunchtime concerts at St Mary’s Church and as director of music at All Saint’s Church Wyke Regis.
He is a piano tutor at Southampton University and tours extensively as recitalist, concerto soloist and chamber musician in the UK, Ireland, France, Belgium and Switzerland, appearing at many major venues and leading festivals.
Several celebrated composers have dedicated new piano works to Duncan, including John Joubert, Sadie Harrison, the late Peter Reynolds and Andrew Downes, whose Piano Concerto he premiered at Birmingham Town Hall.
His recordings feature a wide range of British and Irish piano and chamber music
Walter particularly enjoys chamber music and is also active as a pianist, accompanying pupils and performance groups.
He was deputy head of service for Dorset Music Service and Director of Dorset Youth Orchestra for a number of years. He is now music director of Dorset Chamber Orchestra.
Presently Walter works within a musical co-operative called Strawberry Music with his wife Jane. Together they provide a variety of instrumental tuition. He also runs a web design service.
Their programme includes Brahms: Sonata in F minor, Weber: Grand Duo Concertant and two piano duets: Schubert’s Fantasy in F minor and Poulenc’s Sonata for four hands.
The concert is at St Mary’s Church at 3pm on Sunday January 8th.
