TALENTED singers are hoping some festive stardust will rub off on their audience at their popular Christmas shows.

Weymouth Operatic Society (WOS) is staging Christmas Stardust at Hope Church, Hope Square, Weymouth on December 7, 8 and 9.

Kicking off the festive season, WOS presents an evening of enjoyable, fun entertainment with a show that is split into two halves.

Chairman Stella Brading said: "There will be musical performances interspersed with a number of breathtaking solos, short comedy sketches, carols and Christmas poems, showing how diverse and talented this company is.

"The first half includes a tribute to David Bowie, which is a specially composed and original vocal arrangement of some of his most popular songs and is being aired for the first time.

"An ABBA medley and a musical section follows where a number of popular songs from musicals, (both modern and older), are performed.

The second half of the evening has a Christmas theme, with a selection of popular, classical and traditional Christmas songs blended in with a few well-known carols where the audience are able to join in if they wish."

The concerts coincide with the beautiful Christmas Tree Festival held at Hope Church, where more than 25 real trees are decorated by local charities.

Tickets are £7.50 for adults to include a glass of mulled wine and £5 for children under 16 and are available from the Londis Harbour Stores in Trinity Street, Weymouth, via WOS members or on the door each evening.
