FOLLOWING a sold out show last year, Mad Dog Mcrea returns to Dorchester with their unique blend of folk rock, pop, gypsy jazz, bluegrass and ‘shake your ass’ music.

They are bringing their tour in what is affectionately know as the Purple Happy Bus to the Corn Exchange on Sunday, December 18.

Their self-penned songs tell of adventure, drinking, love and life along with fairies, legless pirates and black flies!

They never fail to capture their audience with their infectious songs. And in recent years they have built on their reputation as a cult west-country festival act and are now viewed by music fans and the media as serious and acclaimed recording artists.

Their new album Almost Home, produced by Sean Lakeman, is an album fuelled with the energy and antics that the band have become known for.

Thanks to three storming gigs at Glastonbury 2013 (notably the Avalon Stage), the release of their official video Happy Bus, regular radio play by esteemed folk such as Mike Harding, and in no small part the utter dedication of their huge fan base – momentum is definitely gathering pace.

In constant demand and having played just about every festival and two-bit, jibe-arsed dive in Christendom, Mad Dog Mcrea toured the UK at the end of 2014 on their Longer Road Tour.

Mad Dog Mcrea is made up of Michael Mathieson on guitar and vocals, Dan Crimp on whistles and flute, Jimi Galvin on bass, Dave Podmore on bazooki and banjo, Pete Chart on drums and Nicki Powell on fiddle.

*The gig begins at 8pm at Dorchester Corn Exchange on Sunday December 18. Call the box office for tickets.
