OCTOBER half-term is upon us and things are really livening up.

*FREAKY Streets begins in Weymouth town centre this weekend.

Before the main events start there is the Freaky Streets Hunt and Businesses’ Weird Window Display Judging to enjoy.

Follow a trail to collect the correct answers from creepy characters on walls and buildings in Weymouth’s streets and be in with the chance of winning prizes.

Pick up a a trail from the Weymouth BID Office, 15 St Alban Street or download a form online from tomorrow. (22).

Other strange goings on include a Halloween fairground in the Weymouth Pavilion forecourt and Spooky Seas Halloween Fun at Weymouth Sealife.

*HEAR the harmonious sound of the Casterbridge Male Voice Choir tomorrow in Wareham.

Wareham Lions Club have organised the concert from 7pm tomorrow. Entrance fee is only £6 payable on the door. All proceeds go to the British Heart Foundation.

*IT'S autumn colours weekend at Sherborne Castle.

See the magnificent displays of colour in the castle grounds tomorrow and Sunday from 10am to 5pm.

Gardens only entry is £4 for adults and children go free.

*GAIN expert advice on optics with an Opticron Optics Day at the Chesil Beach Centre between Weymouth and Portland on Sunday (23) from 10am to 4pm.

Try out a large range of binoculars and scopes whilst viewing the spectacular wildlife of Chesil and the Fleet Lagoon at the Chesil Beach Centre.

*GHOSTS have moved into the Haynes Museum in Sparkford.

Come in full fancy dress if you dare and get in for free.

There's a chance for youngsters to have their faces painted and complete the Ghostly Charlie Crow Treasure Trail around the museum.

*THE Tank Museum at Bovington is celebrating 100 years of the tank from tomorrow.

There will be numerous Tank 100 Themed Activities including climbing inside a First World War and Modern Battle tank.

Find out more about life in the trenches and take part in a junior tank story talk. Experience the thrill of riding in an M548 tracked vehicle.

The museum is open from 10am to 5pm daily.

*SAMPLE a selection of hand made sausages and artisan cider as the Greyhound Inn at Corfe Castle kicks off its Sausage and Cider Festival.

The festival begins tomorrow and continues until October 29. There will be live music in the garden.

*DORSET Food Fortnight begins tomorrow - a two week long celebration of all things mouth wateringly, sensually, irresistibly Dorset!
