CLASSIC Alan Ayckbourn plays will be performed by Dorchester Drama next month.

Among the four plays being performed is one-act play Confusions, which stars Monica Hunt in two very different roles. She plays the Mother Figure, the mother left home alone with her youngsters for too long, now unable to communicate coherently with anyone other than children.

This play was first performed in Dorchester in early 1992.

Half of the cast of 10 play more than one role, as the playwright originally intended.

Martin Stephen takes on the roles of clumsy seducer, philandering businessman and domineering organiser of a local fete.

There are new, and relatively new, faces around also. Look out for the very stylish waiter (Colin Elphick) and a cameo appearance by Mr Poddle, one of the director’s teddy bears.

The four plays are Mother Figure, Drinking Companion, Between Mouthfuls and Gosforths Fete and they will be presented at the Corn Exchange on November 17, 18 and 19 at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £10 on the door and £9 in advance from Trinity Stores, Trinity Street, Dorchester.
