A MUSICAL theatre group is looking for a canine star to take a bow-wow.

Dogs are needed to star in WOW Youth Musical Theatre's production of Legally Blonde and auditions are taking place this Sunday in Weymouth.

Director Martine Burt has asked for a sophisticated and stylish chihuahua to play the role of Elle’s four-legged sidekick Bruiser.

The cast and crew are also looking for a loyal and lovable English bulldog to play Paulette’s best four-legged friend, Rufus.

Both dogs need to be friendly on and off stage and comfortable in front of an audience.

WOW will be performing Legally Blonde at Weymouth Pavilion from Wednesday November 16 to Saturday November 19.

Rehearsals are well under way with a very strong cast of talented youngsters aged between 10 and 18-years-old and it promises to be another WOW success.

The two unusual stars will be required for some rehearsals leading up to the show and then every night from November 14 to 19 (opening night is Wednesday 19 November), as well as the Saturday matinee.

The musical Legally Blonde is based on the 2001 movie, starring Reese Witherspoon.

It chronicles the life of Sorority sister Elle Woods who wins a place at Harvard Law School to try to get her ex-boyfriend Warner back after he dumped her.

The award-winning production was recently in the West End starring Sheridan Smith, which won her Best Actress award in a musical.

Two former WOW members, Chloe Brooks and Chris Stanton also featured in this production.

The Doggy Auditions will take place at the WOW Studio at 25 – 27 Park Street, Weymouth on Sunday October 23 from 4.30 to 5.30pm.
