A FAMILIAR face will headline the next instalment if a comedy café.

Rising television star Stuart Goldsmith will headline next week's event at Bridport Arts Centre - the first comedy café in the newly renovated venue.

Regular host Tom Glover will present a full line-up of comedy

Stuart, renowned for his effortless charisma and quick-fire timing which he honed over a misspent youth as a street performer.

These days, Stuart is internationally recognised for original, striking stand-up comedy. His last three solo shows have received wide critical acclaim - and he has raised his profile with performances on Russell Howard’s Stand Up Comedy Central, ITV’s Show Me The Funny and Alan Davies' As Yet Untitled.

Supporting Stuart will be one of the region’s best loved new acts, Richard James. Richard was a finalist in the South Coast Comedian of the Year, hosted the Eminent Banter showcase at the Edinburgh Fringe festival in 2014 and has some great stories of living life in the westcountry.

Completing the line up will be lovable Welshman David Arnold and café regular Niki McCretton.

As ever the line up has been hand picked by resident compere Tom Glover.

Tom said: “This is potentially the best line up we’ve ever had at the comedy café.

“Stu Goldsmith is one of the best loved acts on the circuit, and on the support line up are some of my favourite local comics.

“If you’ve never been to the comedy café before then this is the one to try. It won’t disappoint.”

The comedy café will take place at Bridport Arts Centre at 8pm on Wednesday, October 5. For more information, call 01308 424204.
