THIS Papa has earned his stripes to preach as one of the most well-respected and admired smooth blues musicians.

So it’s a good thing Papa George is bringing his grooves and band to the Electric Palace tomorrow night for an electric show.

Internationally-acclaimed London bluesman Papa George is playing with the Papa George Band at Electric Palace’s monthly blues night tomorrow on September 16 at 8pm.

Since the mid-70s, Papa George has forged a reputation for stunning performances on the blues circuits and festivals.

He captivates audiences playing Fender Stratocaster and bottleneck blues-style on Amistar and National Steel Guitars.

He counts Muddy Water’s guitarist Bob Margolin as one of his biggest fans who recognises his talent.

After jamming with Papa George at the FVG Festival in Italy, Muddy Water’s guitarist, Bob Margolin, said: “There’s one!... that’s what I say to myself when I meet a musician - anywhere - any age - who is a powerful deep blues player.

“It happened again tonight in Brugnera, Italy. On the show was Papa George, from London.

“George was playing solo and is a spectacular blues artist. He’s got power and nuance, he’s a master entertainer and pure player.

“I’ve become a big fan of his music.”

It’s the likes of Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker that inspired Papa George to pick up a guitar and start singing the blues.

And now, after more than 30 years of extensive live performances, Papa George continues to play and sing the blues with true passion, heart and soul.

Monica Dupont has nominated Papa George for induction into the Blues Hall of Fame.
