CELEBRATIONS to mark 200 years since painter John Constable's honeymoon in Dorset begin on Thursday (18).

Two centuries ago the artist and his wife spent their honeymoon in Osmington Vicarage. So many of his most famous paintings came from this holiday in October and November 1816.

Renowned Dorset folk musician and story teller Tim Laycock, together with violinist Colin Thompson, will help Osmington celebrate John Constable 200.

Tim and Colin will weave their programme around this fascinating time capsule. Their concert is on Friday (19) in Osmington Village Hall starting at 7.30 pm. Tickets are £10 to include a light supper. Booking is available by phone 01305 832069 and 01305 832168.

Other themed events include a three day exhibition in St Osmund's Church which will outline the young couple's wonderfully moving love story through his paintings.

This will take place from Thursday 18 August to Saturday 20 August.

There's a singing workshop with Su Lewis on Thursday (18) at 7.30pm in St Osmund's Church (tickets £2) and a Georgian dance demonstration and join-session with the Historic Dance Group will take place at Osmington Village Hall on Saturday August 20 from 2pm to 4pm (Tickets £3 - £1 children) to include instruction, tea and cakes.
