A CHILDREN'S painting session will start the ball rolling for Osmington's celebration of the artist John Constable and his local connections. He and his wife spent their honeymoon in the in the village vicarage 200 years ago.
On Saturday (13) from 2pm to 4pm in St Osmund's Church, artist Mike Taylor will lead children in a free painting session.
As many pictures as possible will be displayed in an exhibition in the church from Thursday August 18 until Saturday August 20, alongside the exhibits in the John Constable story.
Jane Soole, one of the organisers, said: "So many of his famous paintings were created from his sketches made when he and his wife had their honeymoon at the vicarage (now the old vicarage) in l816."
