THE latest classical concert in the west is being brought to Bridport by two musicians joining together for a performance of Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky.

The supremely talented young harpist Oliver Wass is performing in partnership with the highly accomplished viola player Luba Tunnicliffe, for the latest Concerts in the West at Bridport Arts Centre on July 15.

Both Oliver and Luba are brilliant, award winning musicians whose outstanding abilities won them scholarships to the prestigious Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

Oliver won three concerto prizes in 2014 alone and is now in his first year studying on a full scholarship at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

A former scholarship student at the Guildhall, Luba Tunnicliffe won the Max and Peggy Morgan Award in 2012 with the Bartók Viola Concerto.

Concerts in the West founder and director, Catherine Hodgson, said: “This is a formidable musical pairing.

“Between them, Oliver and Luba have already demonstrated their considerable talent by winning a number of highly significant musical competitions.

“Oliver is the only harpist to have been a finalist in the prestigious Lutine competition.

“Luba was the joint winner of the 2010 concerto prize while a student at the Junior Royal Academy of Music.”

The pair will be performing pieces from Prokofiev, selected pieces from Romeo and Juliet, JS BachChaconne (solo viola), Tchaikovsky and De Falla Spanish Dance No 1 from La Vida Breve.
