A BRAND new show based upon a Spanish play will make for a sizzling summer in Dorset.

Miracle Theatre presents outdoor production Life's a Dream at Fontmell Magna and Sandford Orcas.

Over the last 35 years, Cornish company Miracle has gained a reputation for producing comical, highly entertaining and thought-provoking shows suitable for anyone and everyone.

Life’s a Dream is a brand new show adapted and directed by Bill Scott BEM and with music by Tom Adams.

Based on Calderon’s greatest play, La Vida Es Sueño, published 20 years after Shakespeare’s death, Life’s a Dream is regarded as the jewel in the crown of Spain’s golden age of theatre.

Bill Scott said: "At its heart Life’s a Dream is very modern and existential but the story is packed with action, full of drama and passion and has a generous seam of comedy.

"We’ve assembled a fantastic cast for the summer; Hannah Stephens, Catherine Lake and Ben Kernow are joined by Tom Adams, Steve Jacobs and, performing the company for the first time, Richard Hainsworth."

Miracle has trimmed the text of this classic to the bone and has fleshed it out with the original music, physical performance and joyful use of language that their audiences have become accustomed to.

Life's A Dream arrives in Dorset on the Artseach circuit.

Kerry Bartlett of Artsreach said: “The outdoor theatre tours are always a popular feature of our programme, and this year two of our most stunning venues will be hosting Miracle and this brand new production."

Bill added: “The joy of open-air performance is that every night is different and it really is an etiquette-free zone: you can sit where you want, eat what you want, wear whatever you like.

"Plus, each setting is transformed as night falls; the actors can never be sure what to expect and must be ready to respond to a dramatic moonrise, a sudden shower or a wild animal trying to get in on the act. For players and audience this is a genuinely unique and shared experience.”

Life's A Dream is at Springhead Gardens, Fontmell Magna on Wednesday June 29 from 7.30pm. Call 01747 811853 for tickets.

It goes to Higher Orchard, Sandford Orcas, on Thursday June 30 at 7.30pm. Call 01963 220208 for tickets.
