FIND out more about a world famous landscape garden with a talk on Thursday afternoon.

Alan Power, garden and estate manager at Stourhead, will talk about the history, conservation and management of the garden at the St Aldhelm's Centre in Weymouth.

Alan, a co-presenter on the BBC4 series British Gardens in Time, will look at the people who had the vision to create this amazing place and also the people and places that inspired them to do so.

The garden, in Wiltshire, boasts a glistening lake surrounded by 2,650 acres of chalk downs, ancient woods, Iron Age forts and farmland.

There are many challenges in managing the garden and estate at Stourhead, some planned and some unplanned, and Alan will explore some of these too.

Decisions for the future management and restoration of Stourhead need to be based soundly on the appropriate research and he will also cover aspects of this.

The talk will be illustrated with pictures of Stourhead past and present.

It will begin at 2.30pm at the St Aldhelm's Centre in Spa Road and is presented by the National Trust South Dorset Association.

It costs £4 for visitors including refreshments. For more information, contact organisers Geoffrey and Elizabeth Wrench on 01300 321601.
