AN INDEPENDENT musical married duo are excited to be supporting legendary singer-songwriter, activist and BBC 6 Music DJ Tom Robinson at Dorchester Arts Centre on May 5.

Ava and Elijah Wolf, from Bridport, who make up The Gravity Drive are currently recording their second album and have been supported and played by Tom on his BBC 6 Music show ever since they released their first single.

Elijah said: "The gig is very special and important to us as Tom was the first DJ to play the first song we released and has championed us on his Radio shows which led to all the support we have received at Radio 2 and beyond.

‘Tom has been a huge supporter of our music and a guiding light in our journey so far.

"Tom was the first DJ to play our songs and his support ultimately led us to being played on Radio 2 and BBC 6 Music, being invited to record a session for Bob Harris and playing at last year’s Glastonbury.

Elijah said: "Not only is Tom a musical influence, he is an influence in the way he helps and guides independent musicians to be in control of their choices and music and to be asked to support him is a great honour."

"We will be playing new songs and some of the songs Tom has played on his show and we’d love to see as many friends and fans there as possible."

The Gravity Drive will be performing an intimate acoustic duo set as Tom performs a thoughtful one-man show revisiting his back catalogue. Little known gems sit alongside classics such as War Baby, Glad to be Gay and 2-4-6-8 Motorway-interspersed with hilarious anecdotes from five decades on the wilder fringes of the music industry.

n The Gravity Drive will be supporting Tom Robinson: Home in the Morning on May 5 at 8pm. Visit dorchesterarts.org.uk for tickets and more information.
