PUPPETS, magic, science and mischievous fun are on the cards for Dorset youngsters this half-term.

Meet a Mischievous Monkey this half term when Britain’s top puppet company PuppetCaft return to Dorset.

Using stunning string puppets, antique shadow puppets and live music, PuppetCraft tell the story of the birth and comic escapades of the much-loved trickster and super-hero Monkey.

Hatched from a stone egg, mischievous Monkey can fly on a cloud, turn himself invisible and transform into just about anything! Monkey is the main comic character in China’s great classic story Journey to the West, and is still one of the world’s most popular folk heroes, appearing in countless adaptations, from Chinese opera to comic books, even after hundreds of years.

Monkey comes to Winfrith Village Hall today, Cerne Abbas Village Hall tomorrow, Martinstown Village Hall on Monday, Durweston Village Hall on Tuesday and Wootton Fitzpaine Village Hall on Wednesday.

The Magic Beanstalk will be performed by Cornish based Light Theatre in Sixpenny Handley, Morden, Sturminster Newton, Portesham and Winterborne Stickland, beginning on Friday. See artsreach.co.uk for start times and ticket details.

Beautiful hand carved puppets and amazing experiments are used to re-tell the classic story of Jack and the Giant who lives through the clouds and over the rainbow.

Following a tour of Cornwall in 2014, where extra shows were added due to popular demand, the company are now venturing further afield with dates throughout the South West, Manchester and London.

Jack, his mum and their cow Daisy are in trouble. Their house is leaking, the phones cut off, there's no food in the fridge – and they’ve got nits! Something's got to change and what happens next is an exciting adventure for all girls and boys who believe in magic.

The Magic Beanstalk is at Sixpenny Handley on February 19, Morden Village Hall on February 20, Sturminster Newton Exchange on February 21, Portesham Village Hall on March 11 and Winterborne Stickland Hall on March 12. See artsreach.co.uk for ticket details.
