AN ORIGINAL blues band will perform at a monthly blues night in Bridport tomorrow (4) night.

24 Pesos have a unique and energetic take on the blues that has put them at the forefront of the 'New-Blues' scene in the UK.

The band plays original music with deep understanding of the history of blues, and have received critical acclaim for their energetic live performances.

The group draws from influences ranging from Sly Stone, Sean Costello, The Meters, James Brown, Freddie King, Howlin Wolf, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones and The Roots.

24 Peso’s upbeat, down-home sound brings an infectious energy to their electrifying live shows. This has earned the band a great reputation as a live act at festivals and venues throughout Europe and the UK.

The band burst onto the blues scene in 2008 with their raw live shows and debut album, The Boogie Worm.

In 2010, 24 Pesos released their second album Busted Broken and Blue to great critical acclaim. The release earned the band four nominations at the British blues awards including for best band and best album.

24 Pesos represented the UK at the European Blues Conference in Berlin in March, won the New Brunswick Battle of the Blues and were nominated four times at the 2011 British blues awards. They have appeared on national radio throughout the UK, Europe and beyond - featuring on a one-hour live in session special on CBC Canada and the Paul Jones 25th anniversary show on BBC Radio 2.

When The Ship Goes Down was the band's next release. Produced by bassist Silas Maitland, the album expands on the themes of their earlier release Busted Broken and Blue and is very much a crossover Blues album.

Do The Right Thing is the fourth release from 24 Pesos - an organic, straight-ahead live studio recording, full of greasy-funk, rootsy-blues, bluegrass slide guitars, classic hooks, great lyrics and slinky bass.

The performance will take place at 8pm on Friday (4). For more information, please call 01308 424901.
