Eggardon Hill, near Askerswell, Bridport
Get a panoramic view of Dorset when you venture up this ancient hill fort.
This Iron Age hill fort is a great place for walking, flying kites or simply taking in the extensive views of the surrounding countryside and the English Channel in the distance.
Seek out Thorncombe Beacon and Golden Cap to the south-west and look inland towards Lewesdon Hill, Pilsdon Pen and Lambert’s Castle.
You should be able to spot a lot of wildlife too, including chalk grassland plants including orchids and seven species of butterfly.
Eggardon is also a perfect spot for kite flying.
There is parking on the roadside by the fort, then it is a 200 to 300m walk to the fort.
