AN icon of 1960s R&B will perform in Lyme Regis tomorrow (31).
Geno Washington still lives up to his reputation as a terrific, high energy live performer. He will perform at the Marine Theatre at 8pm.
Geno originates from Evansville in Indiana, in the Unites States, and first came to England in the 1960s as part of the US Air Force.
His love of blues and soul music soon found him jamming with local bands, and eventually led him to London where he caused a sensation singing with top R&B acts Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames and Zoot Money's Big Roll Band at the legendary Flamingo Club in Soho. He went on to team up with the Ram Jam Band, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Throughout the years, Geno and his bands have toured extensively all over the World and have released highly acclaimed albums and singles. His latest live double album ‘It's Geno Time’, is widely regarded as his best work to date.
You only have to listen to the audience reaction to know that Geno has lost none of his star magic. On stage live, he and the band continue to deliver a blistering set of classics, showing why he is truly a Soul legend.
