A FESTIVAL of storytelling is being held in Dorset from August 7 to 17.

The title of this year’s Sting in the Tale Festival, Out Of This World, reflects a range of exciting events and features stories from bygone times, foreign lands and even alternate universes.

Audiences can enjoy a dusk walk on Cranborne Chase with Lizzie Bryant telling tales of the constellations, there will be drums and stories from African culture, ghost and history walks, alien visitors and flights of fancy.

On August 11 enjoy a storytelling event with Lizzie Bryant at Dorchester Library at 10.30am and 11.30am. The event is suitable for children aged seven and up.

One of Britain’s leading storytellers, Hugh Lupton, will be taking his audience on the extraordinary journey of Arthur Ransome and Evgenia Shelepina as they flee for their lives from 1919 Moscow and bok Theatre will present a moving performance revealing the emotions of those caught up in World War I.

Faeries will be on the loose in a full day of fun at Wimborne Model Town and Pillywiggins in Peril in Parley Wood.

In a performance of Dorset folk tales and songs from Tim Laycock, his audience will be entertained with local yarns and music, and the well-known story of The Little Prince is brought to life for children aged 6 to 106!
