THE Larmer Tree Festival is in full flight with the likes of Sir Tom Jones already gracing the stage. But there’s much more still to come this weekend, including a packed comedy line-up taking place at the Larmer Tree Gardens on the Wiltshire/Dorset borders.

The 2015 late-night comedy programme kicked off on Thursday with Irish comedian Ed Byrne. But this weekend will see Bill Bailey arrive for their 25th anniversary festival alongside internationally acclaimed comedians Russell Kane and Seann Walsh.

Renowned for supporting emerging talent, tonight at the Larmer Tree will see returning comedy star Sara Pascoe who has rocketed through the comedy ranks since her last visit in 2011. With a sell out UK debut show, Sara has also amassed numerous TV acting credits including W1A, Twenty Twelve and Campus.

Joining her at the top of the bill is charismatic Saturday headliner Seann Walsh, known for his self-deprecating silliness and hilarious observational comedy. Having appeared on Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow and Mock The Week, Seann is currently team captain on Virtually Famous and has been labelled the most frighteningly precocious talent to emerge from the UK comedy circuit in ages.

On Sunday, Larmer Tree is welcoming back multi-award winning comedian, presenter, actor and scriptwriter Russell Kane. A familiar face from Live at the Apollo, Kane is returning to the festival for the third time due to overwhelming audience demand.

He’s a multi-award winning comedian, presenter, actor, author and scriptwriter, probably best known as the host of three series of BBC Three’s Live At The Electric, regular appearances on BBC One’s Live at the Apollo, BBC Three’s Unzipped, ITV2’s Celebrity Juice and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here… Now!

Russell was nominated four times for the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Awards before winning Best Show in 2010.

There is no end to his talents, having published his first novel The Humorist, which was nominated for a literary prize, he has also written, directed and starred in three plays. His debut movie-acting role will be released this summer when he cameos in Noel Clarke’s latest project.

Topping the bill on Sunday is comedian, musician and actor Bill Bailey is a household name, well known for live shows Dandelion Mind, Tinselworm, Bewilderness and Part Troll, and his work on television in programmes such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Black Books.

But it wasn’t always like that. Raised in the West Country, Bill was once in a group called The Famous Five – an unsuccessful band with only four members. His appearance this year has brought “absolute unbounded delight” to Festival Director Julia who says he has always been at the top of her wish list since she started the festival’s comedy thread in 2009.

“I’ve been a fan of festivals for a long time and always enjoy their unique atmosphere – so I’m delighted to be able to celebrate Larmer Tree’s 25th anniversary with them,” says Bill Bailey.

With six unique stages spread across the festival site, festival-goers can also immerse themselves in a variety of music with well established artists playing alongside emerging talent. The 25th anniversary music line up continues to yield big names on the main stage this weekend with acoustic guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela and The Magic Numbers tonight.

Saturday sees folk heroes Show Of Hands in action, with Nigerian Afrobeat specialists Femi Kuti and the Positive Force. The Sunday finale sees reggae legend Jimmy Cliff is still going strong in a career that has spanned almost 50 years and includes his native Jamaica’s highest honour, the Order of Merit. Jimmy is the only living musician to hold the award. The reggae legend has collaborated with the likes of Sting, Rolling Stones, The Clash and Annie Lennox, and his songs have been covered by Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Cher, New Order and many others. The 68-year old isn’t finished yet – “I have not become the artist I believe I am,” he told Rolling Stone a couple of years ago. “I’m not done at all. I want to become a stadium act.”
