AGONY aunt Virginia Ironside will present her latest show in Bridport this weekend.

Grab some sexagenarian action from The Independent's agony aunt, when she presents Growing Old Disgracefully on Saturday (27).

Virginia is a columnist who writes for the oldie. She has written two books celebrating being a sexagenarian and this new show does just that.

The show arose after Virginia performed at literary festivals in order to publicise her book, 'No! I don't Want to Join a Book Club'. But now, a few years on, her next book has been released, called 'No! I Don't Need Reading Glasses' and Virginia is still on the road.

Directer by Nigel Planer, who found fame playing Neil in BBC hit comedy The Young Ones, the 'granny stand-up' premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe three years ago, and in 2012, Virginia did another stint at Edinburgh to sell-out audiences. She has been touring ever since.

During the show, she will explain why unlimited free drugs, fun funerals, grand children and sex - or, even better, no sex - makes the 60s the best and funniest time of your life.

Come along and hear some funny personal anecdotes, heartfelt takes from Virginia's life, and share with Virginia what marvellous fun getting older is.

The performance will take place at Bridport Arts Centre at 7.30pm.
