A COUNTRY fair with long historical roots will be held tomorrow from 11am to 5pm.

The Evershot Country Fair will feature live music from Bristol’s White City Shakers and Weymouth band Van Rouge.

Attractions will include the Purbeck gun dogs and Yetminster Irish Dancers, together with cars from yesteryear and tractor rides around the Melbury Estate and deer park.

The Evershot Country Fair's origin dates back to 1826 when a charter was granted by Edward 1.

Echoes of the past will be found in this year’s fair.

There will definitely be an air of revelry with plenty to eat and drink and the strolling players prefer a static gazebo to entertain with their music.

Instead of pack horses, vans and cars criss-cross the borders and byways to bring a variety of culinary delights displayed in the food marquee.

More than 80 stalls will offer their wares and you can engage the skills of a coppice worker, hurdle maker and stone mason.

Adults pay a £2 entrance fee and accompanied children can enjoy the family day out for free. See evershot.org/ecf for more information.
