A TEENAGE dancer will be battling it out to win the wild card vote at a national competition.

Weymouth's Max Dawe needs your vote to help him secure the final remaining spot at Dance Proms 2015, the biggest national youth dance competition, at the Royal Albert Hall later this year.

Contemporary soloist Max, a 30 strong group of Latin dancers from the Farnborough-based Diamond Dance Centre and 21 Spanish dancers from Roshe Performing Arts, Lingfied, Surrey, have all been selected by the UK’s leading dance organisations as contenders for the wild card act of the night.

Max, 13, is from Weymouth-based dance and theatre arts school Quay Theatre Arts.

Schools from as far as China, Brazil, Dubai and Austria sent in videos of their dance groups in action and only 21 acts made the final line up.

Now, all three wild card nominees must battle it out for the most votes from their local area, in order to win the final remaining spot.

If Max wins the public vote, he will be the only solo act on the night, performing with a contemporary dance performance called ‘Lest We Forget’?

Jill Tindale, Dance teacher, Quay Theatre Arts said: “I am thrilled that Max has been selected to go forward for the public vote for dance proms 2015.

"It would be such an amazing opportunity for him to perform as a soloist at the Royal Albert Hall.

"He is an incredibly dedicated performer, consumed by dance, who would relish the chance to perform on this iconic stage and for such a discerning audience.

"Everyone at Quay Theatre Arts will be behind Max, we are really proud of him and hope everyone enjoys his performance.”

Craig Bartley, Professional performer and guest judge for Dance Proms 2015, said: “There were so many entries of a high standard but the final three pieces offer such interesting choreography, high energy and the entertainment factor. They were too good not to bring back as Wild Card acts but now it’s up to the public to decide!”

The public can vote for their favourite wildcard act to join the 21 other selected dance acts until June 9 by visiting www.danceproms.co.uk where videos of each dance can be viewed and votes can be cast.

The event will see hundreds of talented young dancers from around the UK and across the globe share the iconic stage with celebrity guest acts, as they perform for an audience of high profile patrons and dance fans.
