A STOMPING black comedy is beating a path to Bridport.

Haste Theatre is performing Beyond Cragporth Rock at Bridport Arts Centre on June 20 at 8pm.

Beyond Cragporth Rock is a dark comedy of six sisters living on the edge.

Prepare yourself for lots of female clowning, stompy dance and a cappella harmonies.

Inspired by Doris Lessing’s The Memoirs of a Survivor, Beyond Cragporth Rock is a black comedy following the story of six sisters who explain differing versions of their total demise.

Devised by the award-winning Haste Theatre with director Ally Cologna, the show is a witty microcosm of humdrum family life put under intolerable pressure.

Ally said: "I’m interested in capturing the moment when human beings permit themselves to fall off the edge of all things decent.

"Beyond the four walls of their cottage lies a nightmarish, futuristic world plunged into dystopia by economic crisis.

"Within the four walls, the sisters live in constant fear of faceless foes and unspecified attacks but attempt to keep some shred of normality in their fragile existence.

"However, the Cragporth cottage balanced precariously on the edge of an eroding cliff soon starts to crumble along with the sisters’ decency."

A nerve-jangling, one-act tour de force, Beyond Cragporth Rock comes with a capella harmonies, clashing egos, murder and a few surprises along the way.
