AN ODD combination of theatre, stand-up, a dash of journalism, activism and a dollop of mayhem is on the cards for comedian Mark Thomas's Dorchester show.

The comedian is bringing his Edinburgh Fringe preview show Trespass to the county town on July 16.

Trespass carries on from where Mark’s previous show 100 Acts of Minor Dissent left off.

His career can be summarised in a variety of numbers; 29 years performing comedy, six series of his comedy show and three dispatches for Channel 4, he has written four books, won six awards for both his comedy and human rights work, and he has taken the police to court three times – winning twice. The third is on going.

In this new pre-fringe warm up tour Mark asks the question: If the ramblers of the 1930s were here now what would they do to open up the cities?

How do we turn the skyscrapers and corporate squares into our playgrounds?

It is quite theatrical but then again Mark is interdisciplinary working between performance art and comedy. According to him, he doesn’t care if it sounds pretentious.

Over the past few years, comedy acts such as Mark Thomas and plenty of his contemporaries seem to have become a winning formula for the people of Dorchester, with consistently sold-out shows.

Catch Mark Thomas on Thursday 16 July at Dorchester Corn Exchange from 8pm.

The doors and bar are open from 7.30pm).
