YOUTH theatre and dance performers from across West Dorset are invited to come together in the summer for a Festival Day.

The West Dorset Youth Theatre Consortium is holding its inaugural Festival Day at Weymouth College on Thursday, July 23.

It will feature workshops, activities, improvised drama and more.

The highlight of the day will include exciting and fast paced theatre workshops with internationally renowned theatre group Frantic Assembly.

Frantic Assembly have toured across 30 countries with productions that include Othello, Love Song and many more.

They were also the movement directors behind the National Theatre show The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, which received seven Olivier awards, including best new play.

The day is a great chance for youth theatre and dance performers across West Dorset to come together.

Megan Dunford, a participation officer at Dorchester Arts, said: "I am so pleased to be working on this project.

"To help to organise a day where youth theatre organisations can come together, express themselves and learn from professionals, like Frantic Assembly, who have and are making new and exciting theatre is an amazing opportunity.

"Our sincere thanks go to Weymouth College and Brewery Square for supporting this inaugural festival day."

The West Dorset Youth Theatre Consortium Festival Day takes place Thursday 23 July, from 10am to 6.30pm at Weymouth College and costs £10 per person.
