WEYMOUTH Operatic Society is raising the bar again this year with its production of Evita.

Building on the success of its highly acclaimed production of Jesus Christ Superstar at Weymouth Pavilion Theatre last May, WOS are lifting this production to their new level of professionalism.

Last year's production of Jesus Christ Superstar brought audiences to their feet and WOS chairman Stella Brading said: "We anticipate a similar response and are looking forward to an exciting production of Evita.

"Our professionalism and approach to the production make for a great experience for everyone in the audience and I hope that we will see a few ‘full house’ signs up during the week!"

Winner of seven Tony Awards, Evita brings to life the dynamic, larger-than-life persona of Eva Perón, wife of former Argentine dictator, Juan Perón.

Blessed with charisma, Eva Perón captivated a nation by championing the working class. This exuberant production creates a gripping theatrical experience and features Andrew Lloyd Webber's compelling Latin, pop and jazz influenced score.

One of the most popular collaborations between Webber and Tim Rice, this legendary musical features the memorable song Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina.

To build on the success of last year, WOS has Martine Burt returning as director and Sam Ryall as musical director, and under their professional guidance, the production will transform the fantastic Pavilion stage into an arena where the audience can examine the consequences of choice.

Evita will be performed at the Pavilion Theatre, Weymouth between Wednesday 27th May and Saturday 30th May with performances starting at 7.30pm and also a Saturday matinee performance at 2.30pm.

Tickets are £15 except for Saturday Matinee at only £12. Early booking is advisable. Contact the pavilion for tickets.
